Description

An expert panel with an occupational medicine physician, a certified athletic trainer and two industry-based ergonomic, health and safety professionals will discuss ways employers can use wearable technology to identify leading injury risk indicators and develop effective interventions. The multi-disciplinary model that will be presented features the deployment of Industrial Injury Prevention Specialists to engage at-risk employees in the prevention and management of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Employees who are educated about their MSD risk after wearing body sensors to detect overuse are better equipped to take corrective actions on their own. Employers can use related risk indicators to adjust workplace practices and reduce MSD case rates.

Track(s)

Learning Objectives

1. Understand how wearable bio-sensors are used to identify employees at risk for MSDs and develop preventive interventions for individuals and across an enterprise.
2. Learn how specialists with training in sports medicine and ergonomics help produce positive outcomes by providing care guidance and preventive coaching without triggering a claim or OSHA-recordable incident.
3. Identify ways to apply innovative ergonomic solutions that leverage advanced technology and clinical expertise.
